1. What is coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative relationship between you and a highly skilled professional who works with you as a change partner. Leadership coaching goes beyond executive development or management training because it gives you on-going support and feedback as well as just-in-time learning, guidance, structure, and accountability.

My personal life & professional success coaching is a type of one-on-one training. Made popular by an unstable corporate climate and the increased need for effective leadership, this type of coaching differs from counseling or therapy. Whereas counseling addresses one’s past, family origins, and diagnosed emotional or behavioral problems, I help healthy, successful clients reveal and clarify their goals, discover their own strengths and weaknesses, and reach action-oriented solutions.

For the same reasons people may seek a personal fitness trainer, many people hire a motivational coach. They want to improve their performance and image. I can help you develop an action plan that focuses on building on your strengths and improving your skills.

As a result of my coaching, you

  •    take more, better, and smarter actions because you set the goals you really want
  •    do more than you would have done on your own
  •    have a balanced life which works well because you designed it
  •    set and reach better more achievable goals
  •    produce results more easily and quickly
  •    exceed your previous limitations
  •    develop and enhance the skills you want so that you are the best you can be
  •    make better decisions for yourself and your business because your focus is clear
  •    have more sustainable energy; no more starting and stopping.

2. What is our philosophy of coaching?

Many people have a general idea what they want to do, but don't know specifically how to go about doing it. For example, if a person in New York wanted to drive to California, she would need a map and road signs. And, yet many people try to set out on their journeys without a map. This is why they do not get very far very quickly. As your coach, I help you develop your map, begin your journey, and avoid costly, distracting detours along the way so you stay on course, in the right direction. By teaming up with a coach, you can get what you want a lot faster and easier.

As a corporate coach, I provide managers, directors, & other business leaders an excellent form of leadership development. By addressing personal issues and interpersonal conflicts of difficult employees and unleashing the potential of star employees, I allow both groups to be more effective with their subordinates. This improves the productivity, performance, and profit of their organization. You learn vital emotional and social skills that allow you to bring out the best in your team.

My management coaching is more effective than sending executives to seminars, not to mention less expensive. This is true because I offer more consistent on-going guidance, structure, accountability, and support that training. Unlike a trainer, I stay with my clients to help implement the new skills, changes and goals, to make sure that they really do happen.

Businesses, organizations, and individuals. Those who want more. Those who want personal & professional growth. And, those who desire to achieve success more quickly and easily. Coaching helps you get all of this.

  • You take yourself more seriously and gain momentum in meeting your goals.

5. Where does a coach usually focus with a client?

I focus on both personal goals and business/professional goals. Because personal and business/professional matters influence each other, I am trained to work with you in both of these areas. Your coach will also support you in getting maximum results. Together, you and I determine the focus, format, and outcomes of the work done. You collaborate to define what will make you successful, balanced, and fulfilled. Neither the client nor the coach takes full responsibility for the direction, nature, or scope of the work.

6. Why does coaching work so well?

Your overall effectiveness improves because, as your coach, I maximize learning and feedback opportunities. Therefore, you stay focused, take smart actions, and are held accountable.

Coaching is proven to work when these two factors are present: 1) You are ready and willing to grow; and 2) there is a gap between where you are now and where you want to be. That is all that is necessary for me to help you solve problems, shape up your life, double your productivity and profit, and create and carry out your personal plan of action.

7. Why has coaching become so popular?

Coaches have easier ways to accomplish things. They have tools, ideas & connections to help turn client's goals into reality.

8. What about people who are already successful? Why would they want a coach?

These people are already successful and resourceful. They are already doing what they enjoy because they tolerate little or nothing. They are already on their way to being financially independent. They already have what they want.

However, even these high-achievers want more out of life. They may be living life in automatic pilot. They often find themselves stuck in a rut, defining achievement through bigger cars, nicer homes, more prestigious positions, and higher-paying jobs. They usually want (and need) a safe, confidential sounding board, a behind-the scenes resource person who can help them achieve greater balance, success, and happiness that is more effortless. This is where a coach is indispensible.

9. How long is the usual coaching commitment?

Three to six months is the typical time commitment. Corporate groups may take up to a year to implement large scale change. However, good coaches will let their clients stop immediately if coaching is not working for them.

10. What does it cost to hire a coach?

Most clients discover that coaching pays for itself. Having me as your coach actually makes you more money and frees up time and energy for other pursuits. Depending on the region and the coach's credentials, a client may expect to invest in a range of about $200 to $600 per month for two to four-30 to 60 minute personal coaching sessions each month. Executive and Corporate coaching programs may cost more.

Now, how much is it worth to you to improve relationships with your subordinates? How much is it worth to you to get that promotion that provides a $10K raise? How much is it worth to you to get more done in less time? Or, how much is it worth to you to finally complete that frustrating project or meet that seemingly unreachable goal?
