Fire 'em Up Without Buring Yourself Out

In the aftermath of downsizing, mergers, & recession, most people report heavier workloads and increased expectations at work. It is becoming more and more difficult for many people to meet the obligations of both work and home. Through a series of exercises and group discussions, participants identify their own stressors and personal stress relievers, learning skills to achieve success in spite of stress, simplify, achieve work-life balance, and multi-task. All of this is done with light-hearted humor.

Managing Difficult Employees

Studies show that the key to boosting productivity, morale, customer service, & bottom line results is the quality of relationships each manager has with his employees. In this valuable workshop, participants explore common misperceptions leading to difficult people, where & when difficult situations arise, ways in which we create difficult encounters & how to prevent them, types of difficult people & how to cope with them, dealing with potentially difficult situations before they arise, and using emotional intelligence to manage your anger and be more effective with others. Participants use the DISC assessment to identify potential conflicts with “difficult people” and to determine whether those employees are difficult or just different.

Skills will be developed through lecture, demonstration, and practice.

Motivating Employees to Peak Performance: Coaching Skills for Managers

An important part of being a manager is giving employees constructive, specific feedback about their job performance. Unfortunately, many employees never know whether they are doing their jobs properly because feedback is communicated ineffectively or not at all. In this workshop, participants will learn five basic steps of giving an employee specific performance feedback. Through lecture, group discussion, practice exercises, and analysis of video, participants will learn specific ways to make their workplace a more positive place by motivating, challenging, and rewarding their direct reports.

Facilitating Productive Meetings

Have you ever sat through a meeting thinking, “What a waste of time!” Unproductive meetings are a waste of time and resources. They frustrate people and sap their motivation and energy. This workshop helps participants:

  • Clarify roles so everyone knows what they are expected to do
  • Decide who should, and shouldn’t, be at your meeting
  • Determine who needs what, by when and ways to develop and distribute support materials prior to meetings
  • Facilitate by keeping meetings fast-paced and focused on results
  • Manage conflict and respond effectively to challenging situations

Participants learn through a combination of lecture, small group exercises, and role-play practice. Let’s talk about how we can customize a workshop to meet the needs of your work group.
